Back to Previous Page

HISTORY: The Isabel first appeared in the aviaries of Mr Bob Knox on the Gold Coast, Qld in 1989. This cock bird was passed onto Mr Ellis Thornley whom subsequently reproduced and developed this mutation. In 1997 the Federation of Zebra Finch Societies Australia accepted the Qld Isabel standard.

GENETICS: RECESSIVE

  • Isabel x Isabel = Isabel cocks and hens
  • Isabel x Fawn = Fawn/isabel cocks and hens
  • Isabel x Fawn/isabel = Isabel & Fawn/isabel cocks and hens
  • Fawn x Fawn/isabel = Fawn & Fawn/isabel cocks and hens *
  • Fawn/isabel x Fawn/isabel = Fawn, Isabel & Fawn/isabel cocks and hens *

Reverse matings of the above will give the same results

* This mating is not recommended as it is visually impossible to detect which Fawns are pure.
